Sydney’s live music community has been celebrating the abolition of complex and costly venue licensing arrangements.
The new system means that restaurant and pub venues will no longer need separate development approval from the State Government if they want to host live music.
But is there really much to celebrate, if local councils and police can still crack down on venues when the neighbours don’t want them there?
